Gate Confirms Applicant Possessed Highly Matching External User Information Amid Security Change Event

According to ChainCatcher, Gate disclosed details on July 9 regarding a security change event and customer funds loss claim. The platform confirmed that the applicant submitted materials highly matching the customer's account, including email, phone number, real-name identity, transaction records, and Alipay screenshots. Gate noted that accessing Alipay screenshots requires successful multi-factor authentication, indicating the applicant not only obtained account credentials but also acquired the customer's external identity information and device access.

Gate emphasized its four-layer security unbinding process: multi-channel advance notification, automated risk control screening, manual multi-level review, and time-based protection. The platform waits two days for customer objections after dual-channel notification before processing requests, with an additional 24-hour withdrawal restriction post-modification. The platform conducted on-chain analysis and asset tracking across departments, coordinating with Tether and other third parties for fund freezing procedures to support potential legal investigations.
