France Confirms First Hantavirus Infection Case on May 11

According to France’s Health Minister Stephanie Rist, on May 11, France confirmed its first hantavirus infection case in a French woman who previously traveled on the cruise ship Hondieres. The patient tested positive for hantavirus and was airlifted back to France from the Canary Islands on May 10. Her condition deteriorated the same evening, according to Rist’s statement.
