Fed Vice Chair Jefferson Says Current Monetary Policy is Sound, Would Reconsider if Inflation Doesn't Cool

According to Federal Reserve Vice Chair Jefferson, current monetary policy is in good shape, though he would reconsider the Fed's policy stance if inflation fails to cool down in the near term. Speaking Thursday in prepared remarks for a Stanford event, Jefferson said the Fed's current interest rate setting could support the labor market while bringing inflation down. "If actual inflation does not begin to cool in the near term, I think it may be appropriate to reconsider our current policy stance," he said.
