EU Delays Release of Satellite Images Over Iran War Region for 24 Hours Following US Request

According to Space News, the European Union began delaying the release of Copernicus Earth observation satellite images covering the Strait of Hormuz and Gulf of Oman shipping lanes by 24 hours, following a US government request made on May 26. The decision was formally adopted by the Council of the EU on July 13, applying to imagery captured by Sentinel-1 and Sentinel-2 satellites in the contested region.

The imagery restriction coincides with the Trump administration's resumption of military operations against Iran on July 8, after a brief ceasefire period that lasted from April 8 to July 8.
