According to the Ethereum Foundation Protocol Cluster, five senior contributors have departed or taken extended leave in recent weeks. In April, Josh Stark and Trent Van Epps left the foundation. In May, Tim Beiko and Barnabé Monnot announced their departures, while Alex Stokes entered extended leave.
Three new leaders have been appointed to the cluster: Will Corcoran as Protocol Research Coordinator, Kev Wedderburn as zkEVM Team Lead, and Fredrik as Protocol Security Project Lead. The changes mark a significant organizational transition for Ethereum’s core protocol development.
