From 12:00 to 16:00 on June 5, 2026 (UTC), the ETH price fell slightly, with a return of -0.16%. The price range was 1652.07 to 1669.15 USDT, with a 1.03% amplitude. The overall market showed a sideways, narrow-range fluctuation pattern, and trading sentiment remained cautious.

The main driver behind this move is the continued outflow of institutional funds from ETF products. According to the ETF Action report, during the same period, digital asset ETFs saw a total net outflow of $330 million in a single day, including a net outflow of $131 million from Ethereum funds. Institutional investors’ selling directly generated sell pressure. At the same time, macro risk-avoidance sentiment surged sharply: the VIX volatility index jumped 12.74% to 17.36, US stock markets tumbled, with the Nasdaq down 2.68% and the S&P 500 down 1.64%. Correlated pressure on risk assets intensified.

Second, funds on the Ethereum mainnet showed net outflows, with weekly net outflows reaching $688.7 million. Money is shifting toward lower-cost Layer 2 networks such as Tron and Arbitrum, but the network usage value has not been effectively transmitted to ETH demand. On-chain activity and price performance have diverged. Although daily on-chain transactions on the network rose year over year by 24.95% to 1.749 million transactions, the Ethereum mainnet’s ETH did not directly benefit. Data from the Polymarket prediction market shows that traders expect the price to be anchored in the $1,590–$1,600 range, and the expectation further limits upside potential.

Currently, ETH is consolidating narrowly around $1,650. In the short term, it’s important to watch the effectiveness of the $1,600 support level, as well as whether ETF fund flows continue to worsen. If US equities stabilize and ETF outflows slow, the price may gain room to breathe; conversely, if macro risk-avoidance sentiment persists, downside risk may increase. Users are advised to closely monitor late-night US stock open performance and ETF flow data.
