Cyclosporiasis Outbreak at Taco Bell Drives YUM Stock Down 7%, But Analysts Expect Quick Recovery

YUM-1.98%
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, a cyclosporiasis outbreak linked to shredded iceberg lettuce at Taco Bell locations has affected more than 1,600 people across five states (Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, and West Virginia) as of July 17. No deaths have been reported. Yum Brands, Taco Bell's parent company, saw its stock sink nearly 7% over the past five days. Analysts expect the impact to be temporary, with recovery within one to two quarters based on how restaurants recovered from past food safety incidents. Taco Bell said it is removing affected lettuce from its supply chain nationwide within 24 hours.
