Cuba's Fuel Depleted, Capital Faces 20-22 Hour Daily Blackouts

According to Cuba’s Energy and Mining Minister Vicente de la Oca on May 14, the country has completely exhausted its diesel and fuel reserves. He stated, “We absolutely have no fuel, and we absolutely have no diesel,” adding that the nation’s power grid is in “critical” condition with “no reserves left.” The capital, Havana, is experiencing its worst power crisis in decades, with many neighborhoods facing blackouts lasting 20 to 22 hours daily this week and last week.
