Cuban President Condemns Trump's Statements and U.S. Sanctions, Warns of Escalating Tensions on June 4

According to Xinhua News Agency, Cuban President Díaz-Canel on June 4 condemned U.S. President Trump's recent statements and new sanctions targeting Cuba, warning they will escalate tensions between the two countries. Díaz-Canel said on social media that the U.S. government's "political shortsightedness" compounds a series of coercive measures aimed at harming the Cuban people.

Earlier that day, Trump stated that after resolving the Iran conflict, the U.S. would "handle" the Cuba issue. The U.S. Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control announced sanctions against five individuals, including Díaz-Canel, and five entities.
