Crypto Industry Establishes Defend Developers PAC to Push Developer Legal Protections on June 3

According to The Block, on June 3, the crypto industry established Defend Developers PAC, a political action committee focused on advancing legal protections for blockchain software developers. The organization was founded by executives and policy officials from DeFi Education Fund, Solana Policy Institute, and Uniswap Labs, with the goal of supporting the Clarity Act and specifically the Blockchain Regulatory Certainty Act (BRCA).

The PAC seeks to clarify that non-custodial developers should not be classified as "money transmitters," exempting them from licensing and anti-money laundering obligations. The organization plans to support members of Congress who actively advocate for developer exemptions and decentralized infrastructure initiatives.
