According to Coinbase, a routine infrastructure update last week caused approximately 50 minutes of service disruption due to an undetected Kubernetes resource name conflict that resulted in misconfiguration of the Istio ingress gateway component. The outage occurred between 12:37 and 13:25 EST, affecting retail, institutional, and developer platforms. The company stated that customer funds faced no risk.

The incident disrupted deposits, withdrawals, off-platform transactions, and Coinbase Card purchases. Services on Base and Solana through Coinbase DEX were also impacted, while Coinbase Exchange and Prime customers experienced transfer and settlement delays or failures.
