According to ChainCatcher, Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong clarified recently on X that his personal posts should not be treated as investment advice or trading signals for any token. Armstrong stated that he posts content he finds interesting or amusing on the internet without necessarily knowing if it relates to specific tokens or projects, and his posts and profile avatar do not constitute endorsements.
Armstrong emphasized that Base is designed to support diverse financial applications including tokenized stocks, lending protocols, stablecoins, and meme coins. He supports economic freedom and user autonomy in trading but stressed that interpreting his X account as a trading signal is at users' own risk. Regarding direct support from Base or Coinbase, Armstrong noted that many tokens cannot list on centralized exchanges due to compliance concerns, stating neither he nor Jesse would "pump or hype" specific tokens. Coinbase's support mechanisms include hosting Base Batches offline events, developer grants, investments through Coinbase Ventures and the Base ecosystem fund, and integrating promising Base DeFi protocols into Coinbase products.
