Chinese FM Wang Yi Meets Iran's Araghchi on July 24 to Discuss Middle East Tensions

According to Xinhua, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Iran's Foreign Minister Araghchi on July 24 during the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Foreign Ministers Meeting in Kyrgyzstan. The two discussed escalating Middle East tensions and recent breaches of a previously agreed memorandum of understanding.

Wang Yi reaffirmed China's support for Iran's sovereignty and security, urging all parties to maintain dialogue and pursue peaceful resolution rather than abandon negotiations. He pledged China's continued backing for mediation efforts and commitment to regional stability. Araghchi stated Iran's willingness to negotiate remains unchanged and called on the U.S. to honor commitments and show restraint, emphasizing the importance of China-Iran coordination at this critical moment.
