China's Telecom Operators Launch AI Token Plans; Single Input Burns 50,000 Tokens on June 18

According to Yicai, on June 18, China's three major telecom operators—China Mobile, China Unicom, and China Telecom—launched low-cost AI token (word element) packages, but early testing revealed significant hidden costs. A single "hello" input burns approximately 50,000 tokens (about $0.125), and a 15-yuan package was depleted in under one hour. Developers noted the effective monthly cost is five to six times higher than mainstream AI subscription services.
