China's NEA Issues Guidelines for Multi-User Green Power Direct Connection, Targets Flexible Industrial Users

GateNews
According to the National Energy Administration (NEA), on May 20, China's National Development and Reform Commission and NEA issued guidelines for orderly development of multi-user green power direct connection. The NEA clarified that industrial and commercial enterprises capable of responding to electricity price signals and flexibly adjusting power loads are suitable candidates for the program. These flexible-load enterprises can optimize electricity timing and usage to better adapt to renewable energy volatility, improve source-load matching, reduce grid dependency, and lower transmission costs. The scheme also enables participating enterprises to reduce electricity expenses through peak-shaving strategies and higher self-consumption ratios, thereby enhancing overall project economics and easing grid pressure.
