China's Largest Gold Heist Solved: 27 Kilograms Recovered, 11 Suspects Arrested by June 22

According to Nanjing Police Department, on June 22, authorities announced that China's largest gold heist case has been fully solved, with all 27 kilograms of stolen gold recovered and 11 suspects apprehended. The theft occurred on May 16 at a luxury store in Nanjing's Jiangning District, with stolen goods valued at over 27 million yuan.

During pursuit, the principal suspect withdrew a 50-gram gold nugget to pay a taxi fare of 7,000 yuan after running short of cash. He was apprehended on May 18 in Guangxi province near the China-Vietnam border, carrying 8.75 kilograms of gold. The accomplice was arrested in Bangkok on May 23 and extradited, with an additional 13.2 kilograms recovered from his residence.
