China's Commerce Minister Holds Video Call with German Counterpart on May 8

According to Jinshi Data, China’s Commerce Minister Wang Wentao and German Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy Reichel held a video call on May 8, exchanging views on China-Germany and China-EU trade relations and international hot-button issues. Wang pointed out that maintaining stable China-EU economic and trade relations is important for global economic development amid the current complex international situation. He expressed concern over the European Union’s recent protectionist trade measures and called on Germany to encourage the EU to pursue fair, open, and inclusive trade relations with China, in line with consensus reached by China-EU leaders.
