China Trims US Treasury Holdings to $651.1 Billion, Hitting an 18-Year Low

According to U.S. Treasury data, China reduced its U.S. Treasury holdings to $651.1 billion in April, marking an 18-year low since September 2008. The holdings fell from $652.3 billion in March, as China continued net selling for the third consecutive month, trimming a cumulative $43.3 billion. China remains the third-largest foreign holder of U.S. debt, behind Japan and the U.K., while total foreign holdings of U.S. debt reached $9.35 trillion in April.
