China Sets Non-Fossil Energy Consumption Target Up 1% Annually Through 2028

According to Jin10, China's National Energy Administration released the Energy Sector Energy Conservation and Carbon Reduction Action Plan (2026-2028) on July 10. The plan targets a 1 percentage point annual increase in non-fossil energy consumption share by 2028 and aims to raise the proportion of coal-fired power plants meeting current efficiency benchmarks by 15 percentage points.

The policy also calls for establishing zero-carbon and low-carbon coal mines and oil fields, building zero-carbon industrial parks, and achieving significant progress in energy-saving and carbon reduction in key industries.
