CFTC Sues New Mexico Governor, Attorney General to Block Gambling Law on June 13

According to The Block, on June 13, the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) sued New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham, Attorney General Raúl Torrez, and other state officials in federal district court to block implementation of the state's gambling law. The agency has filed similar lawsuits against multiple states—Wisconsin, Illinois, Arizona, Connecticut, and New York—in recent months to defend its regulatory jurisdiction over sports betting. CFTC Chair Michael Selig has been strengthening the agency's oversight of prediction markets and recently proposed a comprehensive rulemaking framework.
