Bitcoin Liquidations Hit $700M as BTC Slides Below $62K on Tuesday, Long Positions Account for $160M in Losses

According to Bitstamp data, crypto market liquidations surpassed $700 million on Tuesday as Bitcoin fell below $62,000, wiping out recent gains. Long positions accounted for approximately $160 million of Bitcoin's $193 million in total liquidations, while Ethereum recorded $176 million in liquidations with $148 million in long bets. Across the market, long positions made up 80% of total losses, affecting 11,877 traders worldwide. Bitcoin's slide from over $64,000 to just under $62,000 around 4:30 a.m. EST also trimmed its market capitalization to $1.24 trillion.
