Bitcoin Developers Propose Removing Explicit RBF Signals to Reduce Chain Fingerprints

BTC0.17%
According to CoinDesk, Bitcoin Core developers are currently discussing removing explicit Replace-by-Fee (RBF) signals from the Bitcoin Core wallet. Developer rkrux noted that since full-RBF has become standard policy, BIP 125 RBF signaling is now redundant and may leave unnecessary on-chain wallet fingerprints. Community member Murch countered that stopping replaceability signal transmission is not simply removing fingerprints, as senders must still choose sequence numbers for each input. Currently, approximately 75% of transactions use specific sequence numbers, primarily MAX-2, to avoid creating new traceable on-chain characteristics.
