According to Bitcoin.com News and onchain trackers, Bhutan's government moved 738 BTC worth approximately $44.88 million on June 6. The transfer, managed through Druk Holding and Investments (DHI), continues the country's 2026 drawdown that has significantly reduced state holdings from their 2024 peak of over 13,000 BTC.
Analysts attribute the sales to funding for the Gelephu Mindfulness City megaproject, a special economic zone anchoring Bhutan's long-term development strategy. The kingdom has typically routed such sales through over-the-counter channels rather than open exchanges, allowing large transfers without visible downward pressure on spot prices.
