According to Jin10, Bank of England Governor Bailey warned against calls for broad deregulation during a speech at the City of London Corporation annual dinner on July 15. Bailey stated that well-designed regulation is essential to support economic growth and characterized calls for simple deregulation as "unhelpful oversimplification." He noted that the UK economy is operating in a "rather weak" environment. Bailey also called on the U.S. to adopt a more cooperative approach to addressing risks from advanced AI models, stating "stronger coordination" of testing for frontier models is needed before widespread deployment, requiring international coordination.
