BAE Systems Unveils UK's First Collaborative Combat Aircraft Prototype on July 22

According to BAE Systems, on July 22 at Farnborough International Airshow 2026, the company unveiled the prototype of Brontakis, Britain's first autonomous collaborative combat aircraft (CCA). The name derives from Ancient Greek meaning 'Thunder King'.

BAE Systems stated the aircraft is designed to provide electronic warfare and precision strike capabilities against aerial and ground targets, and will enhance combat effectiveness when operated alongside frontline fighters like the Typhoon. The company plans to begin ground and flight testing in 2027, with operational deployment targeted for around 2030.
