Australia Should Build Its Own Digital Finance Infrastructure, Says BTC Markets CEO

According to BTC Markets CEO Lucas Dobbins at the DECA Conference in Sydney, Australia should prioritize building regulated digital finance infrastructure domestically to avoid future dependence on overseas platforms. Dobbins stated Australia has established the regulatory signals and technical foundations needed but must now focus on implementation. He highlighted Project Acacia, which successfully tested tokenised assets, stablecoins, and a pilot central bank digital currency in a regulated setting, as proof these technologies can operate together. BTC Markets argued that sovereign infrastructure would strengthen regulatory oversight, financial resilience, and competitiveness while reducing reliance on offshore systems.
