According to BlockBeats, Andre Cronje resigned from the Sonic Labs board on June 20, releasing a statement to clarify his role amid confusion over his responsibilities. Cronje emphasized he is not Fantom's founder but rather the original technical architect of the Fantom network, having joined as a technical advisor in 2018 and becoming a board member in December 2022.
Cronje clarified his responsibilities centered on technical work including protocol research, architecture, engineering, and development of the Sonic Gateway. He explicitly stated he did not design, lead, or execute the FTM to S migration, nor did he manage the Sonic airdrop or determine the token economy model and emission structure. After the transition is complete, Cronje will no longer participate in Sonic Labs' business decisions and plans to focus on Flying Tulip.
