Jewelry brands across India and Southeast Asia are adopting AI tools to accelerate design and marketing workflows while offering more personalized customer services. According to a recent survey, 68% of Indian jewelry manufacturers are already using AI for design and inventory management, while a Southeast Asia-based founder estimates that nearly 80% of the region's jewelry brands use AI somewhere in their workflow. Collection launches now take three to four weeks, compared to months previously. Jewelry founders argue that while AI improves workflows and reduces operational costs, it cannot determine what will resonate with buyers—requiring the industry to balance automation with human creativity, where AI shapes the process but human creativity defines the final product.
AI Adoption Accelerates Jewelry Production
Jewelry brands are leveraging AI to generate marketing videos before jewelry is manufactured and to boost design team productivity. Some brands report that AI has doubled or tripled the productivity of their design teams, putting smaller brands on a more level playing field with larger competitors.
According to Sourcy AI founder Karl Chan, "AI can see, but it cannot touch"—a reflection of the technology's current limitations in the jewelry industry. While AI-generated jewelry becomes more common, the industry continues to address the longstanding question of where inspiration ends and imitation begins, a challenge made more complex by AI's capabilities.
