According to a CNBC analysis of Federal Election Commission data, two major artificial intelligence PACs have invested at least $44 million in 40 House and Senate candidates through the end of June. Leading the Future and Public First Action have raised over $200 million combined, with plans to spend significantly more through the general election. Of the 28 candidates backed by Leading the Future, 25 won their primary races, while Public First Action's candidates have nearly all advanced. The groups aim to influence emerging AI legislation in Congress, particularly on issues such as federal versus state regulatory standards.
