$SHIB Shiba Inu Coin is a dog-themed cryptocurrency launched in August 2020 by an anonymous individual named Ryoshi. The coin is often referred to as the "Dogecoin killer" because it was created as a meme coin intended to compete with Dogecoin on the Ethereum network. Its symbol is SHIB, initially promoted as a decentralized community experiment token with no central leadership.

The main appeal of Shiba Inu lies in its large and active community, called the "Shiba Army." They promote adoption through social media, memes, and online activities. Since it is built on the Ethereum blockchain, SHIB is an ERC-20 token, meaning it can be stored in wallets like MetaMask and traded on decentralized exchanges such as Uniswap. The ecosystem later expanded to include ShibaSwap, a decentralized exchange, as well as LEASH and BONE tokens for governance, and a metaverse project called Shiberse.
SHIB's value is highly volatile, influenced far more by market sentiment, hype, and listings on major exchanges than by traditional fundamentals. Many investors are attracted because each coin's price is very low, allowing them to buy billions of tokens with a small amount of money. However, the risks are also high, as meme coins tend to be speculative and prone to sharp corrections.
Although initially just a joke, Shiba Inu has evolved into a Web3 project with ambitions in DeFi, NFTs, and Layer-2 solutions like Shibarium. For beginners, it is important to understand that investing in meme coins requires research and risk management, not just following trends.
