U.S. Strategic Petroleum Reserves Hit Record Weekly Decline for Week Ending May 15

According to U.S. EIA data released on May 20, the Strategic Petroleum Reserve saw its largest weekly decline since August 1982 for the week ending May 15, marking the eighth consecutive week of drawdowns. Commercial crude oil inventories excluding strategic reserves fell to their lowest level since March 6, 2026.
