U.S. Military Fires on Iranian Tanker Hasna in Gulf of Oman on May 6, Damages Rudder

According to U.S. Central Command, the U.S. military fired on Iranian tanker Hasna in the Gulf of Oman on May 6 at 9 a.m. ET (9 p.m. Beijing time), damaging its rudder and preventing it from reaching Iranian ports. The military said the vessel violated U.S. sanctions enforcement measures. After multiple warnings went unheeded, F/A-18 fighter jets fired 20mm cannons at the ship. U.S. Central Command stated that the blockade of vessels attempting to enter or leave Iranian ports remains in full effect.
