U.S. Distributes $20.6B in Tariff Refunds Through New Portal, Corrects Prior Data Overestimation

GateNews
According to Jin10, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced on Tuesday that approximately $20.6 billion in tariff refunds are being distributed to qualifying importers through a new portal. CBP acknowledged that earlier reports contained a significant error; the agency had previously stated it was processing over $35.5 billion in refund applications, but official Lode clarified the figure was overstated by about $10 billion, with the actual amount being around $25 billion due to an unintentional data query error. The $20.6 billion represents funds that have entered the final disbursement stage, including interest and tariff principal. CBP is currently processing over 53 million entries totaling $166 billion in refunds.
