U.S. and Iran Agree on Strait of Hormuz Framework, Plan Full Reopening Within 30 Days

According to the Washington Post, the U.S. and Iran reached agreement on a memorandum of understanding framework on May 24 to fully reopen the Strait of Hormuz within 30 days following mine clearance, citing an anonymous senior U.S. official.

The framework includes a 60-day ceasefire extension for both sides to negotiate a permanent agreement to end the conflict in Iran, as well as Iran's commitment not to develop nuclear weapons. However, no formal agreement was signed as of May 24, with discussions on implementation mechanisms to continue over the coming two months.
