UK Pushes Apple, Google to Deploy Tools Blocking Kids' Nude Images on June 8

According to Reuters, on June 8 Britain announced it will push tech firms including Apple and Google to deploy tools that detect and block children from creating, sharing, or circulating nude images on phones and tablets. Adults would retain access through age verification methods.

The move reflects a global tightening of child safety regulations. Australia became the first country to pass a nationwide social media ban for users under 16 in December, with platforms required to implement blocks by December 10, 2025, or face penalties up to A$49.5 million (US$35.1 million). France, Malaysia, Turkey, and other nations are also pursuing age-based limits for online platforms.
