Multiple U.S. University Endowments to Gain Billions from SpaceX IPO Valued at $1.77 Trillion This Week

According to Wall Street Journal, multiple U.S. university endowments are set to receive substantial paper gains from SpaceX's upcoming IPO this week, with the company valued at approximately $1.77 trillion. The University of North Carolina system holds about 10% of its endowment in SpaceX, primarily through early investments via Founders Fund, while Washington University in St. Louis holds over 15% of its endowment in the company, acquired through a 2018 joint investment with Vy Capital. Stanford University also holds significant SpaceX shares through multiple institutional investors including Founders Fund, Sequoia Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, and others. SpaceX's valuation has surged from $140 billion in December 2022 to the current IPO pricing.
