Israeli Military Warns Personnel Shortage Could Surge in Coming Months, Expects Up to 90K Draft Evaders by Late 2026

GateNews
According to Israeli Defense Force personnel chief Shay Tayeb on May 20, the military faces an accelerating manpower crisis as soldiers with shortened 30-month service terms begin demobilizing in January 2027. Currently, 32,000 individuals are classified as draft evaders, while over 50,000 have received "Order 12" notices for failing to report when conscripted. Tayeb warned that the number of draft evaders could reach 80,000 to 90,000 personnel "very soon."
