According to the Wall Street Journal, on May 7, Iran’s Mohsen Rezaei, a senior advisor to the late Supreme Leader and former Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps commander, dismissed the U.S. 14-point negotiation proposal as ‘unrealistic.’ Rezaei stated that Iran will not allow the U.S. to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and then exit without compensating for all damages caused to Iran. He emphasized that any satisfactory negotiation between Iran and the U.S. must include ‘tangible interests’ rather than ‘empty gestures’ from Washington, and Iran will continue demanding its rights and war reparations regardless of U.S. military withdrawal from the region.
