Fantasy Top announced Wednesday it will close at the end of June, about two years after launching on Ethereum layer-2 Blast. The blockchain-based fantasy sports game allowed players to build lineups of NFT trading cards featuring crypto influencers, with payouts tracked through social media engagement metrics on X.
Since its 2024 launch, the game paid out more than $20 million to players and $3.2 million to featured crypto personalities. The team cited unsustainable economics as the reason for closure, noting that NFT trading card volume could not support long-term operations. All final fantasy competitions will conclude June 18, with other game offerings like prediction markets sunsetting immediately.
