According to DRC government statements made on May 23, the country's suspected Ebola cases have risen to 867, with 204 suspected deaths reported. In response, the DRC transportation ministry suspended all passenger flight operations at Bunia Airport in Ituri Province, the hardest-hit region in the country's east. Commercial and private aircraft are prohibited from landing or taking off, with exceptions only for humanitarian, medical, or emergency flights following special approval from aviation and health authorities.
