China's Futures Market Posts 4.54% Volume Growth in May, Tin Surges 188.55%

According to China Futures Association data, China's futures market saw trading volume of 709 million contracts and trading value of 70.61 trillion yuan in May 2026, up 4.54% and 29.01% year-over-year respectively. The nonferrous and precious metals sector maintained strong momentum, with tin futures volume jumping 188.55%, copper up 20.59%, and aluminum up 28.81% year-over-year. Silver futures rose 12.55%, while gold futures declined 54.63% year-over-year. As of end-May 2026, China had listed 167 futures and options contracts.
