According to Jin10 Data, on May 22, China's Commerce Minister Wang Wentao met with WTO Director-General Ngozi Okonkwo Iweala in Suzhou during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) trade ministers meeting. The two exchanged views on the global trade landscape, follow-up work on WTO's 14th Ministerial Conference (MC14), and organizational reform. Wang emphasized China's commitment to defending the multilateral trading system and core WTO principles including most-favored-nation status, and called for faster consensus on pending issues such as duty-free treatment for electronic transmissions.
