China Refrains from Confirming U.S. Agricultural Deal, Cites Broader Trade Consensus on May 15

According to Jin10 Data, China’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun declined on May 15 to directly confirm whether Beijing and Washington reached a specific agreement on agriculture, responding to a question from a New York Times reporter. Instead, he stated that during recent discussions, both sides achieved important consensus on maintaining stable trade relations, expanding pragmatic cooperation across various sectors, and properly addressing their differences. China expressed willingness to work with the United States to implement the consensus reached by the two countries’ leaders, based on principles of equality, respect, and mutual benefit.
