Alibaba Cloud Launches Johor Region with 2 Data Centers, Expands Global Infrastructure to 104 Zones

According to Alibaba Cloud, the company launched a new public cloud region in Johor, Malaysia on June 9, with two data centers to expand the country's cloud and AI capacity. The move is part of Alibaba Group's previously announced US$53 billion investment in AI and cloud infrastructure in 2025. The Johor region brings Alibaba Cloud's global infrastructure to 104 availability zones across 32 regions. The company also plans to introduce agentic AI services in Malaysia in the second half of 2026.
